About the author – Davide Manca
Davide Manca is a passionate Italian finswimming coach and former athlete with extensive experience in swimming, finswimming, and sports education. After being part of the Nord Padania Varedo sports team — later renamed NPS Varedo — he chose to dedicate himself to teaching and preparing new generations of athletes. He currently coaches a finswimming team at the Lido Azzurro pool in Varedo, located in the province of Monza and Brianza, working alongside Valter Mazzei, a prominent coach in the finswimming scene.
Davide has been a top level World finswimmer, winning the European Championships in Open Water in 2002, 3rd in 1998 and 2004. He also took part to the relays who won the World Championships in Open Water in 1999, 2001 and 2005.

With a competitive career behind him, Davide decided to pass on his passion for finswimming and his experience to young athletes, using a technical and educational approach that stands out for its attention to detail and athlete safety. His commitment to training goes beyond the pool and into writing: he is currently working on a manual titled Finswimming The Monofin, a practical and technical guide for athletes, coaches, and finswimming enthusiasts, with a particular focus on open water competitions.

Thanks to his dedication to finswimming and his continuous pursuit of technical improvement, Davide has become a key figure in the finswimming community. He contributes not only to the growth of his athletes but also to the development and promotion of the sport through the Finswimmer Magazine portal.
